Transition activities to do at home

We know that some children are very eager to get to school, so if that is your child, please feel welcome to complete these activities at home. The following activities will give you an idea of what is expected in Prep and they will help your child prepare for Prep 2021.

PENCIL CONTROL

Use these animal-themed pre-writing worksheets to develop directional pushes and pulls of a pencil. This will help your child when they begin to form letters during writing.

RETELL

Read a story and use the activity sheet to retell the events. Draw pictures of what happened in the beginning, middle and the end of the story.

STORY TIME

Enjoy story time with the teachers from James Cook.

THE PLAY PROJECT FILM - HAND STRENGTH

It is important to develop the small muscles in the hand, fingers and thumb. The development of these muscles will help your child complete many tasks such as writing.
